Do you ever get attacked by reading monsters?

When you start reading, do you feel like you are entering a mystifying mind maze and that a monster could leap on you in the second paragraph, wrap its tentacles around your head and squeeze your brain into a comatose curd that will never again put forth rational thought?

Your brain after a reading monster attack

Would you like to cut your reading time down and still get the information you need to rocket your comprehension—and your academic performance?

If so, you need a tool to help you fight off the monsters and keep you alive and alert all the way through the maze until you arrive victoriously at the other end, ready to face any tests, classroom discussions or research papers that come your way.

Works for all informational reading. The Reading Monster Exterminator works for all kinds of informational reading—science, history, economics, mathematics, art, technical journals—any kind of non-fiction reading challenge you may face.  It works for articles, handouts, book chapters, pamphlets—and even whole books.

For sixth graders to grad school: Students have boosted their performance using the RME as early as the sixth grade and on up into college. Sean York, Anna’s son and the genius behind the technology, is an instructional designer with Pearson education. He first started using the RME in grad school and it boosted his performance so much he decided it had to go online.

Great for informational reading: The RME is especially good for informational reading. It has some steps, such as electronic outlining and marginal noting, that are good for all reading, including novels, literature and poetry.

Has its own textbook for practice:  The RME has its own practice textbook and other tools to make learning the steps easy. It can also be learned directly with any textbook or other material being used by a student.  The RME makes learning fun and easy.

Meet  some monsters we will exterminate

Bad Attitude Monster

Has a whiny voice that is always in your ear saying

“I hate doing this! I wish I were somewhere else.

Why me?  I don’t deserve this punishment! If only I could be doing . . .”

Anxiety Monster

There’s way too much to do

You won’t get it done in time

You feel overwhelmed

Space-out Monster

Dozey (fall asleep)

Boredom

Daydreaming

Attention wanders away from core ideas and essential facts

Junk Food Monster

(Any information you don’t need and don’t use is junk food)

Eats everything

Reads too much that’s not needed and never used

Loves irrelevant stuff, leads you off topic

The RME is integral to all tutoring done by Anna York.
